KPW: "BAYS WRESTLEFEST" Preview

The Bays WrestlefestIn early 2012, Kiwi Pro Wrestling heads north to the Bay of Plenty to put on "Bays Wrestlefest". Over two action-packed days in the Bay, the finest in family-friendly Kiwi Pro Wrestling talent will battle for supremacy: first, there will be afternoon exhibition matches on Friday 20th January (see below for details).

The intense pro wrestling competition is all set to culminate in the double main event at Saturday night's "Bays Wrestlefest" for the coveted KPW Tag Team Championship and the KPW Championship. This stellar event sees professional wrestling brought back to the Bay of Plenty for the first time in decades, and the wrestlers of KPW are itching to put on the best show possible for the Tauranga fans. There'll be hometown heroes taking on competitors from around the country, so as well as there being championship gold on the line, there's provincial pride at stake! There'll be a chance to get up-close-and personnel with the KPW wrestlers
themselves at the show, with an autograph signing at half-time!

KPW Tag Team Championship match: LAZARUS VOLT and H-FLAME (champions) versus TANK and KADE MORGAN "3G"

Crazy CarnivalLazarus Volt - Tauranga's own flamboyant ringmaster, the "little man from the big top", head of the "High Wire" Wrestling School in Tauranga. H-Flame - WWE triallist, longest-reigning KPW Champion, international superstar, trained and wrestled in England, originally from Whanganui. These two may seem like an odd couple, but in the ring they're dynamite! Managing to unseat villainous tag team champions the Renegades for the coveted KPW Tag Team Championship was no mean feat, and now they appear to be staking their claim at the top of the mountain. Can they continue their winning ways using Volt's speed and cunning paired with H-Flame's precision and power or will they come unstuck against their latest challenge? Tank - fighting out of the Waikato via Australia, a pitbull in the ring who can attack from any direction, a deadly combination of speed and power, a wrestler both ruthless and cunning. Kade Morgan "3G" - the only third generation pro-wrestler In New Zealand, from Wellington, a former KPW tag team champion, strength and pedigree paired for power. Each of the challengers will seek to outdo in other in finding any shortcut to victory - they're both brutal, conniving competitors at the best of times, and with the Tag Team Championship at stake, the challengers will stop at nothing! Tank faces H-Flame in singles competition at an exhibition match at KPW's Friday 20th January 2pm matinee (see below) - will this enable him to gain enough foreknowledge to beat his opponent with the championship on the line, or will H-Flame use the encounter to get Tank's number? Kade Morgan is a tag team specialist and recently lost the championship to both Volt and H-Flame - powerful motivation, going into this match. Can Lazarus Volt use the support of his home-town crowd to overcome his team's greatest challenge yet? Tauranga fans will find out at KPW "Bays Wrestlefest"!

KPW Championship match: THE TECHNICIAN (champion) versus WHETU "the Maori Warrior"

The Technician - KPW Champion, former co-Tag Team Champion (at the same time), double Oceania Amateur Wrestling Championship winner, from New Plymouth, WWE triallist, technical wrestler extraordinaire, cocky cunning and arrogant. Whetu the Maori Warrior - fighting out of Rotorua, always brings the mana to the ring, fantastic agility and speed, fearless fighter with an arsenal of areal maneouvres. These two have had scintillating encounters in tag team competition in the past, so each will have to pull out all the stops to gain a victory over their experienced opponent. Despite the champion's cockiness, he can certainly back it up in the ring. His vicious streak may come in to play, but it's hard to keep Whetu down. This match will be Whetu's greatest challenge, but the prize in this match is worth any danger or difficulty - the KPW Championship! Will the champion prevail, or can the Maori Warrior overcome the Technician with his mana?

KING WILBA (with Queen Hollie) versus MR SAMOA

King Wilba - a self-made man and self-crowned King, from "the Queen's Court", a big man with a bigger opinion of himself, devastating power and a size he uses to his advantage. Mr Samoa - from the islands, as big as the islands, WWE triallist, loves to put on a show for the fans, very proud of his heritage, a seemingly unstoppable smiling behemoth with the heart of a champion. This match promises to be a case of "when two worlds collide", as the two largest men in KPW square off in the same ring! Queen Hollie has insisted that she be at the side of her royal consort during this match, and you can be sure that despite her regal appearance, she'll do whatever it takes to ensure a victory for her king. Mr Samoa burst onto the wrestling scene this year and thrilled this fans with his power and island flava. He is currently undefeated, and King Wilba would like nothing more than to unseat the bigger man on his way to the top of KPW, but Mr Samoa's not
about to be anyone's stepping stone!

CHARLIE ROBERTS (with Alex "Danger" Donahue) versus MARCUS COOL

Charlie Roberts - the so-called "Ayatollah of High Rollas", straight out of the high rent district, has the best fitness and wrestling trainers and the worst attitude, never met a rule he couldn't break, one half of the A-list "Rodeo Drive" clique with his partner-in-crime Alex "Danger" Donahue. Marcus Cool - fearless, fun-loving, an extreme sports enthusiast, very technically sound, fighting out of Queenstown by way of southern England, trained by English legend Steve Logan. Two more different people I don't think you'll ever see - Charlie Roberts is driven by bitterness, arrogance and the unassailable delusion that because he's worth more, that he's better. Marcus Cool is driven by his love of wrestling and showcasing his skills for the fans. The two things they have in common are that they are both phenomenal wrestlers and both love to win. With Rodeo Drive out in force, look for this match to become a "two on one" affair, as "Danger" Donahue
has never been afraid to get involved in a match to help his bro Charlie Roberts win, no matter how low they have to stoop!

Divas Match: QUEEN HOLLIE versus NURSE PAYNE

Queen Hollie - self-proclaimed "Queen Of Divas", from New Plymouth, cunning and shrewish, loves to cheat to win, disdainful of the "peasant" KPW fans and anywhere she goes. Nurse Payne - everyone's favourite caregiver, from Wellington, schooled in the healing and martial arts, sunny disposition, cares for resident KPW special case and second-generation wrestler The Brute. From opposite sides of the tracks and opposite sides of the coin, these two divas have collided in the ring before as part of their long-standing rivalry. Queen Hollie will use any dirty trick she can think of to pull of a victory over her hated foe, and Nurse Payne refuses to be intimidated by "Queen Meanie". With nothing to lose and pride on the line, who will emerge victorious from this heated match-up?

WILD WILLZ versus BULL ADDAMZ

Wild Willz - a risk-taker with a big grin and bigger hair, a bold hunter from Samoa, loves to show off for the fans and take any risk to take out his opponent. Bull Addamz - from Tauranga, a graduate of Lazarus Volt's "High Wire" Wrestling School, vicious and dangerous, brutal in the ring with an agility that belies his massive size. Wild Willz will have to use all his cunning to evade the big bad Bull and strike before Addamz can get a grip on the hunter and end his night with one devastating move. This match will be power versus speed and promises to bean exciting re-introduction of pro wrestling to Tauranga!

"Hometown Challenge" match: STIX versus STEVE JORDAN (with "the ATH", Andre Taylor Hone)

Stix and Steve Jordan are both from Tauranga, and both graduated from the "High Wire" School of Wrestling in Tauranga, under the guidance of ex-ringmaster Lazarus Volt himself. Stix is a drummer in 'Faceplant', carries the rock 'n' roll good-time lifestyle to the ring with him, wears his love for the fans on his sleeve and loves to test his skills in the wrestling ring. Steve Jordan is new to the professional wrestling business, but has a determination to succeed which may give him the edge against his more experienced opponent. Having already seen the ATH in action alongside Shock, I know he'll strike while the referee's back is turned, and this may tip the match in Jordan's favour. One thing's for sure: as graduates of the "High Wire" Tauranga wrestling school, and in front of a hometown crowd, neither wrestler will be prepared to lose and they're going to lay it all on the line for the KPW fans in Tauranga!

INFERNO versus "The Young Lion" DANE KING

Inferno - former KPW Champion, from Wellington, bitter, angry, vengeful, devastating, a nine year professional wrestling veteran. Dane King - the newcomer from "the Urban Serengeti", trains hard to gain the edge over his opponents, draws his strength from the fans, can take a heck of a beating and still keep fighting. It's a good thing that Dane King is so resilient, because in taking on "the fiery one", the Young Lion might have started a brush fire that he can't put out! Eager to re-establish himself in KPW after a leave of absence, Inferno will be seeking a conclusive win over his opponent to send a clear message to the KPW roster. Equally determined to stake his claim as KPW "alpha male" in front of the fans, Dane King is resolute that he will show Inferno the error of stepping into "the Lion's Den" and show the Tauranga fans the power of the Young Lion's roar!

TWELVE MAN BATTLE ROYAL

No friends, only enemies. All participants begin the There can be only one winner in the battle royal and each competitor know it! Elimination is by being thrown out over the top rope and both feet hitting the floor - you can bet that these competitors will be hanging on for dear life! The winner is the last one left in the ring - simple to understand, but very difficult to achieve! And if the motivation of wrestling in front of a Tauranga crowd wasn't enough, the winner of the contest can choose their coveted prize: either a KPW Championship title shot OR they can pick a tag team partner for a KPW Tag Team Championship title shot at the next KPW live show! Who will be able to outlast all the other wrestlers to choose their own special shot at glory? Will it be brute strength that carries the day or will the fastest wrestler prevail? Will the winner be the biggest or the smallest wrestler in the contest? Who will get their chance to grab the gold?

As always, wrestling fans, remember that the card is subject to change due to wrestler availability.
